King Edward's Hall

FORTHCOMING ATTRACTIONS!!

Mervyn Stutter - Friday 5 March 2010

History

Kind Edward's Hall was built in the 1920s by the Singer family who had purchased the Normal Court estate from the Barings. It originally offered a lending library and community rooms. Later, a billiard table was installed. The hall was given to the village immediately after World War II when the estate was broken up and sold. It was a condition of the gift that it became a registered charity. Dances and events were held weely. These days King Edward's hall is still an important part of village life. It is the host to many community events and its success is due in great part to the work of the hall committee and their "volunteer" helpers!.

The hall has recently undergone a £30k refurbishment which included extensive redocration and the provision of disabled access and toilets. The building works were funded through grants, donations (thank you!) and fundraising
