Dear Sir,
I've just started researching my family tree and my paternal grandmothers mother was a Pragnell. Her family all lived in West Tytherley in the late 1800's. Her parents died at a young age so their children I believe there were 8, names include Leonard, Winifred, Louis, Annie, George, Beatrice were taken into the care of Barnardos apart from my great grandmother who was only about a year old at the time and was fostered by a family. Her name was Beatrice Jane known as Jane she died in 1938 of TB. One of her brothers we think went to Canada and another was a postman in Romsey for some years. Thats about all I know of the Pragnells and I wondered if any of the above details rings a bell with anyone else out there. Many thanks, Maria ========================= Dear Maria, If you Google "Pragnell" and "West Tytherley" make sure you are sitting comfortably and have lots of time to spare! There's a lot to see. The "nameboards" at Ancestry.com also have a lively Pragnell discussion. Webmaster July '09 ========================== Maria's great grandmother, Rosa Kate Pragnell was my grandfather's sister. I have plenty of information if she wants to contact me. Jenny Maquire (Sep '09) ==========================Dear Jenny and Maria,
I read with interest your remarks. My grandfather was Edwin Pragnell born in about 1879 in East Tytherley to George and Jane. He had 5 sisters and 3 brothers - Clement, Herbert, George - Rosa, Harriet, Ellen, Elizabeth and Sarah. Maria, I think Rosa might be your great grandmother. I have just started researching my family history and would love to exchange information.
Wendy Sluman ========================== My great grandfather Michael Pragnell was born in West Tytherley about 1845. He married Selina Brockway from East Knoyle, Wiltshire and they moved to Lancashire about 1877. He was a coachman. Their children's names included Charles, Beatrice, Annie, Lambert, Frank, Fanny ( my grandmother ), Bertha, Albert and Laurence or Florence ( died in infancy at Winchester ). I wondered if there was any connection to the Beatrice Pragnell mentioned here or if anyone knows anything else about them? Miranda Macdonald ==========================Hi West Tytherley,
Has anyone done any research on the Pragnell family going way back to the late 1700's?
I'm reseaching my family and have found that my ggggrandfather was a Moses Blake from West Tytherley and he married a Tabitha Pragnell in 1818, they had 2 children Thomas (my line) and John(can't find him). I can follow Moses line but I can't find anything on Tabitha, please can anyone help ?

I am Kim Pragnell, twin brother of Jane Pragnell. We were born at Salisbury General hospital 1952. My father was Ernest Warren Pragnell and he came from Bulford village outside Salisbury. One of his brothers was Festus Pragnell, the famous science fiction writer of the 1940-50s. His mother was either Lily or Amy and her maiden name was Fletcher. Father was Herbert Pragnell. They all lived in a minute thatched cottage (14 of them, apparently).
Can anyone throw light on this family?
