HAPPENING?
PARISH COUNCIL
At the
Parish Council meeting on the 15th November we were asked to include
in this newsletter the dates the Mobile Community Police Station visits the
village, so I walked down to the shop and on the notice board it states visits to
the lay-by on the first Thursday of every month at
As I mentioned in the last newsletter the waste collection service is to
be revamped next year starting in February in some parts of

As we begin the build up to
Christmas, the children have been busy making things to sell at the Christmas
Bazaar on 25th November and rehearsing for their Christmas
Production on 7th and 8th December. This year the pupils are performing Scrooge,
the musical. (Free tickets available
from school and village shop for the matinee performance on 7th
December) Class 3 have been studying
Charles Dickens and his book ‘A Christmas Carol’ in literacy and went to see a
production of Scrooge at the Mayflower Theatre Southampton. They were hoping to get some tips for their
own performances! This term also sees
pupils enjoying a trip to Cinderella in Salisbury; dressing up as Romans and
having a banquet; getting involved in a roving theatre company’s pantomime;
enjoying a sponsored football skills day with the Saints in the Community team;
taking part in a Harvest Festival in St. Peter’s Church; selling Poppies and
reading during the Act of Remembrance at the War memorial on Remembrance Sunday
and filling 43 shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child appeal. The big jar in the Black Horse is being
filled for the school at the moment for which we are very grateful to Martin
and Gail. Our Christmas Service is on
Wednesday 14th December at

On a personal note, my mum, brother and I would like to convey our
heartfelt thanks to all those who have expressed sympathy and offered comfort
and friendship in so many ways following the death of John. He was the
most wonderful man and we will miss him very much.

WEST
TYTHERLEY VILLAGE HALL
Many thanks
to the hosts for the Safari Supper which was well supported and thoroughly
enjoyed by all. As was the traditional
Harvest Supper with a really good 3 course dinner and wine.
The
Forest Forge production of At The Hop had a full house and once again was an
interesting story with some wonderful character acting. Christmas Eve
sees their production of Adventures of Tom Thumb.
It was
good to see so many villagers taking part in the 10k Run and with so much
positive feed back it will now be an annual event – so get in training.
We start
the New Year with an event for younger villagers – A Hip Hop Workshop – details
in news letter. February sees another production from Forest Forge ‘The
Country Wife’ but in April a change of style with a dinner/cabaret evening with
Madam Galina – as recommended by Libby Purvis so get the date in your diary
April 22nd. In the summer
we’re organising a treasure hunt for the village.
As for
the maintenance of the building plans are being drawn up to improve disabled
facilities and a new large oil tank has been installed.
The new
committee members have enhanced the established team but we need a
secretary. It does not involve a lot of
work, the meetings are kept as short as possible, are held in the pub and
aren’t too frequent! If interested
please phone Jane on 341113.
Just a
reminder the hall is available to hire and is a great venue for parties, barn
dances etc. Call Margaret on 340598 for reservations.
