WHAT’S HAPPENING?

WEST TYTHERLEY OCTOBER 2002

Parish Council

Over the course of the next month or so, the Highways Authority will be implementing traffic calming measures. The most noticeable feature will be at the entrance to the village in North Lane. White lines will be painted at various points along the road from North Lane up to the school. There will be a temporary build out on the corner by King Edward’s Hall at the junction with Church Lane. The purpose of this is to slow traffic as it passes the school and enters Church Lane. It is experimental. In addition, some road signs will be moved or replaced.

Thanks are due to Ray Lodge, Peter Girling and Stuart Dowding, (the village Flood Control Group), who have completed a comprehensive survey of the problems locally. Their recommendations have been passed to the Environment Agency. The final version of the Halcrow Report on flooding problems is now complete. There is a copy with David Lyon.

Proposals to build a permanent barbeque on the Recreation Ground have foundered due to insurmountable problems regarding potential liability and insurance.

Composting — Hampshire residents qualify for a special offer on composting bins until 31st December. The prices are: £13.80 (220litres) or £14.75 (330 litres), including delivery. To take

advantage of the offer, call 0845 073 8990
