WHAT’S HAPPENING?

WEST TYTHERLEY OCTOBER 2004

PARISH COUNCIL

We are putting together a "Parish Plan". This is  a very important document. Not only is it a valuable historical record but also a statement for the future as to how the village should develop. It will include information which will be considered in future planning applications by the Borough Council. We would be very grateful if anyone who feels they can contribute, or help in preparing the plan, in whatever way, would get in touch with the Council to help out. More information is available from John Guy.

Next year we will investigate the possibility of adding a basketball ring and board and a small tarmac area to the recreation ground. The first step is to gauge support. If there is a strong positive response, we hope to look at the cost aspect at our November meeting. Please let us know your views well in advance.

Brown bins for compostable waste have gone. We now have to lug inadequately sized bags to the roadside. Nonetheless could everyone take care with where they leave their hedge clippings and grass cuttings.

Andy Bowditch, Chairman West Tytherley and Frenchmoor Parish Council.

YE OLD BLACK HORSE INN (01794) 340308

Martin and Gail, who have now been at the Black Horse over two years, would like to take this opportunity to thank all their regulars at The Black Horse (old and new) for their continued custom and support. We are now into the new Skittle year and things are bowling along swimmingly down at the Old Corrall, and The Pigeons are back in action and having a jolly old time on Sunday lunchtimes. The fortnightly Sunday fun quiz, for all ages, will recommence in October and we would love to see new teams mosey on down for the event, so don’t be shy or a couch potato, name your team and trot on in!! Look out on the blackboard for any food specials (Autumn – Cod, Chips, Mushy Peas, Bread & Butter), and musical events taking place over the winter months. The Christmas menu is now available, so book your table early, several dates are already filled, or why not book the skittle alley for a family get together and try the Xmas buffet. Don’t forget we also have two convenient and comfortable B&B rooms for those family and friends you don’t quite have room for.

So, forget those dark winter nights and saunter on down to Ye Old Black Horse, a friendly welcome, a cosy fire, and a good pint of real ale cheer.

WEST TYTHERLEY C OF E (Controlled) PRIMARY SCHOOL

Since last term, we can now report that the School Grounds won first place in the Test Valley in Bloom Competition.  Mrs Bagley and some of the children will be going along to the award ceremony later this month.

We have had eight new children join the school in Reception Class this term and a new member of staff, Mr Michael Bateman, who has taken over as Class Teacher from Mr Peter Shaw who left us last term to become Deputy Head at Breamore Primary School.  They are all settling in very well.

This is the term when application forms for next September’s admissions start to come into the school office.  If you have a child who is due to start school next year, please pop into school and ask for a CR2 form.  These all have to be back into school by November 19th.  We are holding an Open Day on 5th October and we would be delighted to welcome anyone who would like to come along and meet us.

We have recently launched our own school website, which may be of interest.  We publish a newsletter every Friday and this will be available on the school website as well as the village website in the future.  If anyone would like the newsletter emailed to them every week, please drop me a note at admin@west-tytherley.hants.sch.uk.
