In
January 2007 our Clerk is to retire, therefore we will be looking for a
replacement. An idea of salary expenses can be seen in the minutes of meetings
displayed on our notice boards. If you think you may be interested, please

Next
year the local elections will be held in April, so if anyone from the Parish

please contact the Clerk.
If
anyone is interested in assisting John Guy (tel. 340946) with the Parish Plan,
please contact him as soon as possible, as we have been offered a presentation
on this subject by the Rural Community Development Officer.
Finally,
I am pleased to tell you that the basketball area on the recreation ground is

As most of you will be aware we no longer
have a resident Community Police Officer. However, there are various ways to contact
the Police. In an emergency of course dial 999, but for non urgent calls or
enquiries Hampshire Constabulary have a central switch board telephone number
0845-045-45-45 from which you will be transferred to the appropriate
department. More detailed information can be found in the business listings
section of The Phone Book on page 308 for Wiltshire or 309 for Hampshire. There
are Police Officers assigned to our area and the first contact for messages
should be to P.C.636 D.Turpin who operates from Romsey Police Station for which
there is a direct line number 02380-674301.

No-one will have failed to notice that the
school is growing daily. The building is
gradually coming together and we are actually starting to believe that 2007
will see us happily learning and working inside a lovely new school.
Of course a lot of the work being done,
especially during the summer holidays has been noisy and intrusive for the
village and the road outside of school gets very congested at certain times of
the day as parents, staff and builders attempt to find places to park their
cars! We would like to thank everyone in
the village for being so understanding and co-operative and to reassure you
that the temporary inconvenience will be worth it in the end when we all have a
village school to be very proud of.
We will be having an Open Morning on
Thursday 2nd November for prospective parents of children due to
start school in 2007. However, we will
also be organizing an official opening of the new building and an Open Day for
all interested parties in the New Year.

WEST TYTHERLEY VILLAGE HALL
Summer is over so the
autumnal events for the village get under way with The Harvest/Village Supper
on 14th October. A four course supper of lasagna with salad
and garlic bread, fruit crumble, cheese and biscuits followed by coffee and
mints all for £10. Bring a group of friends and make up a table of 8 – fun
evening and good to meet new people in the village. Tickets are available
from the village shop or via Tim on 342392.
After the success of another
Forest Forge production ‘A Wild Weekend’ in September we turn to comedy
in November with Hot Pursuit – a sell out at the Edinburgh Festival with the
comment “if you like your comedy bright-eyed, pacy and with just a smidgin of
searing political comment, look no further” and the BBC revue “a glorious romp
of a murder mystery”. The date for your
diary is 10th November.
